GIZMATRIX™ TEST RANGE · UxS

The proving ground for unmanned systems.

Air first. Designed to carry one system across domains in one picture.

Scenarios are simulated training, not a record of range operations.

AIR FIRST.ONE SHARED PICTURE.EVERY DOMAIN IN VIEW.

Every domain, one picture.

UxS is unmanned systems in any domain, not just the air. Missions rarely stay in one, so the range is designed to carry a system across domain boundaries without handing it off.

Scenarios for every mode, including the planned security posture, are available as simulated training in the full scenario catalog. They are training exercises, not a record of range operations.

Air FIRST Unmanned aircraft under Part 107, in Class G surface airspace.
Ground PLANNED Unmanned ground vehicles, wheeled and tracked.
Surface PLANNED Unmanned surface vessels on the on-site lake.
Subsurface PLANNED Unmanned underwater systems crossing the surface boundary.

Green marks cooperative aircraft participation only.

FAA Compliance

The FAA path for air operations is documented at the Gizmatrix Test Range, uas.city ↗. FAA aircraft rules govern the air domain only.

In definition

Counter-UxS

Phase 2 extends the range from operating unmanned systems to accounting for the ones that should not be there. A security posture is planned and its scope is in definition. Any response to an aircraft remains with authorized agencies, and no counter-UxS capability is offered.

Terms of reference

Glossary

The vocabulary the range runs on, and what each term means in practice.

UxS
Unmanned systems in any domain: air, ground, surface, subsurface, and space. The "x" stands in for the domain, so one term covers what UAS, UGV and USV/UUV each name separately, including systems that transition between domains. Broader than UAS or UAV, which cover aircraft only.
Dynamic Awareness™
Dimensional situational awareness for an aircraft or drone relative to everything around it. A control tower sees the whole picture on radar; a pilot sees only what their eyes catch. Dynamic Awareness gives the aircraft, crewed or not, a real-time positional picture of itself within the airspace.
Gizmatrix™
The airspace surveillance and alerting platform behind the range, an Onward Network product. Air is the first domain; others are planned.
